Donald Green Andrews, 70, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2010. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 11:00a.m. at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 3000 East Garner Road, Raleigh, NC 27610. Arrangements by McLaurin at Pinecrest, Funerals & Cremations, Clayton.

Don Andrews was a barber and checker player in Raleigh. His wife Machiko Yamauchi Andrews wrote me a short letter answering a letter I sent Don about 5 month ago about the up coming tournaments. She said he passed away December 20, 2010.  I received the letter Friday when we were in Lebanon playing the Tennessee Open. I posted his obituary I found in the Raleigh News & Observer newspaper.  Don was a NCCA Life-Time member, a generous supporter of our game, and he played most of the local tournaments. Don held an ACF & WCDF rating of 1798 in 2010.  He had lost his hearing over the years and this hindered his tournament participation. He will be sorely missed.
